Please feel free to get out your cluesticks and send me elsewhere if this is an inappropriate forum for this question; I didn't see a Darwin dev forum here, and this seems to be a lively place with many knowledgeable folks.

I've searched high and low across the net for this, and no one seems to have posted any info on it. How would one go about updating a Mac OS X installation with the current version of darwin? I would like to get all of the tools/utilities/etc. available in Darwin from Mac OS X PB. Is it as simple as doing a CVS update and building it, or is there a better installation procedure to use.

Conversely, If I'm a licensed, registered owner of OS X PB and a registered Darwin developer, is it possible to get the higher level layers of OSX to install on top of the current Darwin core that I am hacking on?

Has anyone tried either of these? Am I crazy for wanting to?

Thanks for any help/insight.

I haven't tried this myself, but take a look at this helpful MacAddict article:

Petard, hoist yourself over to http://www.darwinfo.org/ , where you'll find like-minded crazies.

Sign up for the Darwin developer mailing list which is hosted by Apple.
