I have just installed CW 6 in OS X and have found it is having trouble with Java. When I try to make a java app it says there is an unknown error. My guess is it is looking for MRJ which OS X does not have implimented in it. So I want to make CW use the java that comes with OS X but have no idea how to do that. Any help? I don't check the boards often so if you do know how to solve this problem email me at brian_simpson2@excite.com please. Thanks.

Java applets don't work in Explorer and OmniWeb for me. Anyone have success in running java applets on a web page?

My wife loves to play poppit on apple.excite.com and it won't run on MacOS X web browsers.

Have you tried going in the prefs of IE and turning on Java?

Both browsers in OSX, OMniweb and IE, dont support Java
you've got to start up classic and run an old browser to see java applets

To enable Java in IE5 Carbon, go to the preferences, click Java then add this: /System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.2/Classes/classes.jar

Hmmmm all I have to do is go into prefs and check the Java button, it gives a warning but it turns on Java. The problem is once the Java is on you can't type into text feilds in the browser anymore so you have to turn it back off to type into text feilds.

Homer,
I emailed MetroWerks because I had heard CW 6 did not support Java on OSX (just C, C++, etc) They said they were not able to get it implemented but look for support for this language later.
Since I only use Java, I'll just wait for the Java specific CW for OS X. Right now I'm stuck with OS9 for work, since I have not gotten my projects to compile using Javac yet. If it is just source files, than Javac works fine for me. As soon as I try to put extra stuff in the CLASSPATH and use classes from jars, then I get ClassDefNotFound errors . . .

Hmmm tht doesn't make one bit of sence....java is implimented in OS X , I mean that is how Java works in Linux. I find it hard to believe they just didn't bother hooking it up...sounds really strange to me, all you have to do to get Java working in OS X is to include the files from thier java support folder and it works.(Well everything but swing for some reason) Anyway it's just a matter of getting the compiler to go to the right directory. I really am dissapointed in metro if we can't tell it to go someplace in the gerneral prefs and we have to go into each project and tell it where to find java.
