I have absolutely no programming know-how. What would the Objective-C code be to set up the toolbar button in the right hand corner of the window. I want that to put the ruler down in TextEdit, seeing how that's open-source, I though it might be cool to do that. Can someone post insturctions or something?

This isn't supported; the toolbar button is supposed to just show the standard toolbar, not do anything else, so there is no public API to do something like this.
