Does anyone know how the AppleTalk over TCP/IP protocoll functions ? I want to program a AppleTalk server which maps the FTP port, to get a finder integrated ftp client.

Apple is phasing out Appletalk so I wouldn't suggest using it. On the non-appletalk side of things I think that you could probably use Cocoa API's like NSSocket and stuff like that, see the Foundation Framework, in order to make a TCP/IP connection between two computers. Why do you want to use Appletalk as opposed to any other method of networking?

I don't want to use AppleTalk as my network layer, I use tcp/ip but I want to use the AFP ( I think it's called so ? ) as protocol, so if I use the connect to server command from the go menu in the finder and connect to localhost, my own server fakes an appletalk ( base on tcp/ip ) network. The server would map a ftp session to the finder. This would be a ftp client inside the finder.
