God, I have been waiting for this book forever, Mac Game Programming by Mark Szymczyk.

I have also been trying to get my hands on a copy of "Tips and Tricks of the Mac Game Programming Gurus" but of course it is out of print, and the ideas are kinda outdated, some of them that is.

Anywho, it is coming in April!!! Ya!!! I hope they don't delay it again like they already have

Um, any other good game programming books people want to suggest? Or sites? Even winblows books are ok, like the winblows version of tips and tricks.

Ever try O'Reilly's Physics for Game Developers? It looks fascinating, however I never got it because I was pissed to find out it was aimed at Windows. It should have been OpenGL with platform agnostic examples. O'Reilly really let me down with that one.

I will have to check this book out. In general most game programming books are horrible. They usually give a basic graphics treatment and then throw in a couple of game related topics so they can put "game programming" on the cover. With that said, the Game Programming Gems books are really good because they have real examples of current stuff that game programmers use. I know that when I worked in the industry I lifted several good ideas from these books. However the biggest hurdle for people seems to be the graphics part. If you want i can recommend several excellent graphics books. They arent Mac specific but it doesnt matter, the principles are the same.

That would be cool mdcarter1. I am always looking for other ways to do things, or any new docs or literature on graphics, or AI. So you know any good OpenGL books?

I just wished that when I started making games I had a game reference book, the hurdle I had to get over would not have been so great.

Here is what I would recommend, do a search for OpenGL Red Book and Blue Book on the web. These two books are free downloads(can buy on amazon as well). One is OpenGL instruction and one is an OpenGL reference. I also think OpenGl SuperBible is a good beginners book.

If you want to just hack around with OpenGl these books are fine. If you really want to get into graphics, then you have to learn the math unfortunately. I recommend two books for this:

Real-Time Rendering
3-D Game Engine Design

These books are really "academic" and math intensive. They also will shed
some light on the pipeline which is something every graphics programmer should get familiar with.

Also, http://nehe.gamedev.net/ is a web site with tons of decent tutorials.
And of course flipcode.com and gamedev.net but you probably already know about these. hope this helps.
