Just as an excercise I want to write a little app that monitors/displays
network activity so I can get my feet wet with Apple stuff. If somebody can point me in the direction of where I can find info about how to get net interface data I would appreciate it. I'm guessing I would get info about this from some lower level API?

see the man pages for netstat, dig, nslookup, ifconfig, etc if you want more than the network utility found in the utilities folder gives you.
Those who would give up essential liberty to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.
