So far we have a couple of good Cocoa books out there but none of these provides a bunch of generic ready to use code. I'm surprised that there is no website dedicated to this. Are there any books/websites on the way aimed at filling this gap?

Yeah it would be nice if there was something like codeguru.com for the Cocoa API. Sounds like a nice little project for someone to start... :-)

It's hard to not have heard of Stepwise... It's a great site for Cocoa materials and tutorials.

The focus of a cookbook is not necessarily on teaching (Cocoa) but on providing proven solutions to common programming tasks. If you ever looked at O'Reilly's PERL or Java Cookbooks you would know exactly what I'm talking about. It's all about not reinventing the wheel -which is what OO is about anyway.

Actually, I forgot about the Vermont Recipes. It's indeed very good work. The only problem is that it doesn't contain enough. It's basically aimed at the most fundamental UI components. I am not putting it down, I think it's great but it leaves you hungry for much more. Here are my picks for "recipefication":

-Stream Handling
-Thread Management
-Graphics
-Sockets
-Internet Services
-Distributed Objects

That's where the meat is, wouldn't you agree? Anyway, I hope that any authors reading this thread see an opportunity to write a big fat book on this kind of stuff or perhaps even on formal design patterns.
