My digital camera isn't recognised by the Image capture App bundled with 10.1 (it's a Canon digital ixus which I think is called a digital elph in the US) so I'd like to write my own app. Is there an image capture framework available in Cocoa?

The Image Capture application is based off the Image Capture framework, which is a straight C API (actually it's part of Carbon.framework, but I don't see any reason why you shouldn't be able to use it from Cocoa). I don't know how you write camera plugins, though, but if you manage to do it for the framework then the application will automatically support it so you don't have to bother writing your own

Searching for the same "Digital-Hub"-experience, I came across the following link:

Hope this helps!

Hi,

I had the exact same problem...Canon IXUS v. I followed the instructions and got it to work....being a bit of a code newbie I was pretty chuffed.......

Thing is, it was so quick and easy to do, why didn't Apple just do it in the first place?

anyway, it was pretty fun - now to take some pictures
