I just downloaded the 10.1 DevTools, but when I try to install, the Developer.mpkg package is represented as a folder, not as a installer application, so I can't double click and install.... Instead, it just opens the package like a normal folder, showing me the contents. How can I make this folder act like a real pacakge and install the DevTools?

have you tried deleting (or moving them to another place) LSApplications, LSClaimedTypes and LSSchemes from ~/Library/Preferences (and then logging out and back in)?
