AppleScript: Creating GUI-less Scriptable App?

Hello,
I'd like to know if anyone has played around with creating a GUI-less scriptable app like URL Access Scripting.app/ or Image Capture Scripting.app on MacOSX? I've been working thru the documentation and I know how to create a GUI-less app with Cocoa using ObjC, but I can't make it respond to scripting commands. Does anyone have any suggestions or references that might help with this?
