I started a thread WAY back asking for this App I mocked up in Photoshop.. Basically the idea was to have one tool (with a GUI) that would provide Users and Group management, as well as file Permissions.
The main interface was a Column view file browser. When a file or folder is selected, you could view/edit the ownership and Permissions of that file/folder.
There would also be a drawer that opened from the side to revile a user/group management tool, where you could create/edit users, groups. You could drag a user from the list, to the "Owner" box of the file/folder you are viewing to change ownership.
any ways, as it turned out, StarfleetX had been working on an app that is almost spot on what I was asking for... But now has run short on time, and is not able to continue with the project..
But he will donate his code base to any one that wants to pick it up...
Any takers???

Well actually I have the beginnings of an Objective-C wrapper to DirectoryServices, which would be required for manipulating the directory store to create users. There isn't much there yet, though.

I was thinking there would just be a GUI front end that used the existing comand line utilities for NetInfo to manipulate users and groups... Actualy everything could be done from the comand line now, so one would just have to make a front end app the executes thos comands...

Evil hackish kludge. Yuck. Would probably also require passing of root password as an arg to the tool, which is unsafe and can be snooped using ps -caux.
