The Mac OS X port of OpenOffice.org needs your work.

Sun, sponsor of OpenOffice.org (http://www.openoffice.org), has released the Mac OS X port of the OpenOffice.org code to the Open Source community. Much has been done already, and we firmly believe that there is enough support within the Mac community to continue development on the port.

OpenOffice.org, which provides the forums and infrastructure for Open Source development, invites Mac developers throughout the world to contribute their efforts to making this port of OpenOffice.org code a strong rival to other
office software suites.

We, the OpenOffice.org community, call on dedicated Mac developers to rise to this challenge. Source downloads, as well as instructions for building the current version, are available now, at http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/. We have also posted an interview with the former manager of the OS X port, Patrick Luby, in which he addresses crucial issues and provides advice on how to get the port moving (see http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/luby.html).

If you are interested in joining us in making this port happen, please go to the Mac OS X porting page, http://porting.openoffice.org/mac/.

See you there!

Well I don't know about anyone else on this forum but this sounds like an excellent summer project. This could be a really worthwhile project for the OS X development community (Cocoa Open Office anybody?).

Fingers crossed it gets the support it deserves.

BTW luispo, the interview link to OS X issues is broken.
