My mom is doing a backup, and her backup app stops at locked apps, so i need to quit apps like BBEdit et al that lock their prefs files. How can i do this in an automated fasion?

He wants to do this remotely like:

tell computer "63.445.323.4" to tell application "BBEdit" to quit

I am not really familiar with this type of stuff though :/
