Let me start by saying that I'm a non-programmer and don't desire to become one - my brain appears to be very dead on that side of my head. I'm a art director/designer who spends the better part of the evening - according to my wife - with QT SMIL/Flash/Spritz. When QT Live comes and goes and the sofware I dream of doesn't appear (again), I want to explore the options of developing it. Can anyone here give me advice how to procede and what to expect?

I'm in the same boat you are in, in a number of respects. I've never gotten over HyperCard 3, which was supposed to create interactive movies, sort of like LiveStage Pro does now... LiveStage is one of a few overpriced pieces of software that utilize the authoring options in QuickTime. So, even though I'm an art director also, I'm attempting to write my own software also.

First, I would install the dev tools, and go to http://www.stepwise.com and do the vermont recipies tutorials to get an idea how cocoa works.

Afterwards, here is an excellent primer on using Quicktime with Cocoa: http://www.oreillynet.com/pub/a/mac/.../25/cocoa.html

Good luck.

Thanks for the tips, but I'm not up to the task of doing this on my own. I need to find a "partner".
At this point, with QT Live just days away, I'm going to wait-and-see what comes out of the conference.

(LOL) We're not working on the same thing are we? My app produces a .mov file.

Regards,

T Allen
