Hello,
I thought that I had seen this issue raised here before but I guess not. Does anyone know how to launch a Carbon application form the command line without resorting to the "open" command?
Thanks,
Jeff.

well ... if your Carbon app is a CFM app, you can use LaunchCFMApp.
if it's a Mach-O app, you should be able to invoke it directly, keeping in mind that the actual executable is inside a package. i'm not sure if the window server and friends will be offended by this in some way.

Ok, you guys could have helped by providing a path. I thought that LaunchCFMApp was the way to do this but I could never find it (because it is not in PATH). Since that is all the you guys suggested, I figured that it must just be somewhere I haven't looked.
For anyone else interested in this, the location is:
/System/Library/Frameworks/Carbon.framework/Versions/A/Support/LaunchCFMApp
This program also seems to work the way I had expected.
Thanks,
Jeff.

Just wondering, what exactly is wrong with using open?

maybe you should've mentioned the word "path" somewhere in your post...
here's another good path to remember:
http://developer.apple.com/techpubs/...on/carbon.html
the "tips and tricks" link is particularly helpful, and includes the path to LaunchCFMApp.
