OK - here's the thing. Gnokii is a GPLed app that is equivalent to Nokia's data suite (getting info to/from a nokia by serial comms.)

I *really* want to write a cocoa front-end to this. The Digital Hub isn't complete without the ability to talk to a GSM 'phone (as far as I'm concerned.)

However - here's the rub. There is no binary for Darwin and I know jack about GCC, compiling in the command-line or even what would be necessary for porting the code to darwin.

Does anyone have any interest in this kind of project?

Sorry, i'm not signing up to help in this project, other than to point you to a couple of pages which might be of interest:

The first page is: Things Macintosh (Developer) page.

The second is: An introduction to ProjectBuilder, which shows you that you really don't need to know how to compile using the CLI to compile under MacOS X.

Hope this helps. YMMV.

That seems to be geared more towards traditional Mac programming.

You do unless you want to rewrite gnokii's build system, and doing that will probably require understanding it in the first place.

Now is the perfect time to plunge into the world of autoconf, automake, gcc etc

This is what I suspected might be the case - time to learn the scary stuff.
