This has probably been answered 1024 times; however, I need a final answer!

For a person who knows C well, and has worked a tiny bit with the old Mac Toolbox, which is better to learn (Starting from scratch doesn't matter): Carbon or Cocoa? I've seen Cocoa and Carbon apps, and you can tell which ones are which. Although Cocoa apps have a lot of added features (like that Intellimouse support), it's a _whole_ other language. Objective-C is weird. If you recommend either, please state your reasons. I know people will use both for a while, but will Cocoa really catch on?

If you recommend Cocoa, can you also recommend an Objective-C tutorial besides Apple's PDF? (It's too long and boring =)

If you recommend Carbon, how long do you think it'll stay?

I love the old Toolbox, and I _really_ love procedural programming.

Thanks!

Look at some Carbon programming example projects (which comes with the Dev tools). If you can understand it, use it.

I've used both and Objective-C only takes a day to learn if you already know C. Apple's ObjC PDF is excellent in my opinion, if you already know OO programming skip the first chapter.

Carbon is definitely here to stay. Apple is extending the API so it's feature set is on par with Cocoa. If you're writing Carbon apps don't forget to use Carbon events so it runs smoothly on OS X |-)
