FTP Access to WebServer Directory?

I'm sure I'm just overlooking something obvious, but I could use a bit of help solving a frustrating problem I'm having with OS X Server 10.1.5.

I can't seem to FTP to the WebServer directory on my Xserve. Logging in with my main account takes me to my account's User folder, and when I try to FTP in as root it denies access altogether (Root login is enabled on this machine).

I've tried setting my share points differently for my main account, and even creating a new user whose home directory is the WebServer directory. Neither scheme works- when I try giving a user access to the entire HD, I login to see three text files only (symbolic links).

Meanwhile, I can mount the Server HD over the network and just navigate to the folder via the Finder- but that's not going to help me upload root-relative sites from GoLive.

How can I enable all-access FTP on this machine?

Thanks,

When you ftp to the server, you're placed by default in your home directory.

However, you should be able to cd to a different directory using:

cd /Library/Webserver/Documents

(or wherever your web pages are).

Just setup GoLive to have the path as the remote document root and you should be set.

Alternatively, to make life a little easier, create a symlink to your web server directory in your home directory:

ln -s /Library/Webserver/Documents ~/mywebsite

Then when you ftp in you can cd to mywebsite and end up in the web server directory.
