Do Xserves come with empty drive modules that you can add your own hdd to?

Or, do you have to order the whole module from Apple?

Does anyone sell empty modules?
signatures are a waste of bandwidth
especially ones with political tripe in them.

Yup, that's pretty much it. It's a dummy space-filling module.

Apple sells the drive modules. They are their own module creation that allows an ATA drive to be hot swapped (as far as I know not possible before). They each have their own channel (100mb through put each). Although it looks as though you can remove the drive and add your own to their device, Apple says this will not work.

Now, when will the XRaid be available?

Isn't it called the XServe RAID? Anyways it should be released soon since Apple accidentally posted a Knowledge Based Artice on how to replace the battery of the XServe RAID!
