Two weeks ago, I installed OS X Server (10.2.1) on a G4/450/256. Everything is working well, except I can't connect using Server Monitor; when I try, I get a message saying "reply not understood."

I then found an Apple document (106830) that explained the hostname must be set to "localhost" (in HOSTCONFIG) if no DNS service is present AND trying to connect to the server using an IP address. So I changed the name as directed (prior to this, the host name had been the same as COMPUTER name, except lower case). Still couldn't connect.

Do I need to reinstall this thing? Otherwise, again, the server is fine, so I hate to mess with it. But I'd like to have Server Monitor at least working.

Thanks in advance for any ideas on this...

Server Monitor is for Xserves only. You can't use the app with anything else.
