Hi guys, I am hoping you can help me with a problem we're having at my office. We deal in lots of video/dvd with a 3 people and 3-4 machines (G4s) all working on the projects at a time.Thats where the problem lies.
To many machines, to many files (back ups/versions) etc.. we have really tried to be organised but the work is across at about 7 different drives.
Ok what I propose is to use an Xserve to be a host fo ALL the work, from DV footage to Mpgs to builds etc.. and to be worked on from the 4 different machines. So it's always in one spot with ish loads of space to move around.
Is the Xserve able stream DV footage (final cut pro scratch) while another is using DVD studio file etc... using the Xserve as a huge local shared drive.
Is Xsever the solution or alternativly can a new DP G4 do the job with an extra PCI network card (if you can use two network cards?)
Any help/advice would be fantastic and please no cracks about how bad 'file system' all that could be said about that has been said, believe me
