once again i have managed to break my 10.2 server setup. everything boots fine and then the login widow comes up. after login, it churns for a second then dumps me out to the command line and says:
Darwin/BSD (my-computer-name) (console)
login:
at this point i can type my login/pass, but then i'm still just stuck in the command line and don't know how to get it to finish booting. i'm not sure if this is an automount problem or what, but this is not the first time this has happended to me. i don't remember if/how i fixed it last time, but i'm pretty sure i just gave up and reinstalled. i would REALLY like to avoid doing that this time around, since that would be my 3rd reinstall in a month.
btw, i've rebooted off the install cd and repaired the disk and permissions, all to no avail.
thanks for any help.
EDIT: having started up in single user mode, then typing "exit" to continue the boot process, i am presented with slightly more information as follows:
WindowServer[222]: loginwindow connection closed; closing sever.
/System/Library/CoreServices/SecurityAgent.app/Contents/MacOS/SecurityAgent: (ipc/send) invalid destination port : CGSFlushWindowContentRegion: flush failed
