NAS vs. G3 server?

I've got a small peer-to-peer network of 3 macs with a shared DSL line. I'm looking to add a server to consolidate our project files, and am considering two options...

1. Turning a spare Blue & White G3 (500MHz, 512MB RAM) into a server
2. Purchasing an NAS device, such as the Iomega NAS A300u

My main concern is speedy access to shared files, so I thought the NAS might be a good choice. However, we already have the G3, so why not make use of it?

Any thoughts on the pros/cons of the two options? Which might provide better performance? Would setting up the G3 be a hassle (upgrades, software, etc.)?

Thanks for any advice!

That G3 would make a great server! Through another ethernet card in it and it will be a great all purpose machine. My server is still running a 604e and it hosts a few web sites, among many other things.
