I don't know maybe they think that all people around them stupid?
Pixar just have got 8-th Xeon based servers running Linux and Apple released new XServe, nice ad compaign. Don't you think so? I really love a joke ad that Apple made on Intel in 1998, now looks like behind the scene actually they are love Intel. Why don't this folks from Pixar don't make a Renderman for MacOS X? Why they have to use Xeon based servers? The answer probably because Xeon is fast, more faster that any G4 avaliable on the market today. Don't even think that I hate Apple, I love Apple, but double game that Steve plays now looks unclear to me. Nice look of Mac made this machine is prefect for home users, easy to use make it also perfect for stupid folks, but what about the rest of us? I always though that Apple care about Pro customers as well, but looks like they don't. I need speed, I need the best, and probably my choice will be the same as folks from Pixar made one.

Pixar bought those blade servers over six months ago - Xserves was just announced back then.

Furthermore blade servers are smaller than Xserves plus they don't contain hardware that isn't needed in a cluster.

Only RackSpace, AMD and Sun gave Pixar an offer anyway.

I've never really thought of RackSpace as a company I would go to if I wanted to build a cluster. When I read that Pixar went with RackSpace, I kind of thought "like, from RackSpace.com??" Did anyone else have that same reaction? I understand they took bids from AMD and SUN, but they are established hardware manufacturers, while I've always thought of Rackspace as a company that sells a service.

The article now says RackSaver instead of RackSpace.
