I really could use some advice.
I have this baffling problem with my server. I've installed an Asante GigaNIX 1000TA card to allow for 1000Base/T networking for one of my LANs and the card will only connect to 10/100Base/T Switches and not a 1000Base/T switch.
My server has a total of two Adaptec SCSI cards so that I can support legacy SCSI drives and my LVD drives. The server's multihomed with a second LAN by using the built in Ethernet port. I have the latest drivers for all of the cards.
Someone from Asante's Tech support line said that B/W G3's can only support two bus mastering PCI cards and not three. Is this true? If so why would it effect the connection speed with the card?
Furthermore, following their advice, I removed one of the SCSI cards and tried to connect to the 1KBase/T switch and that didn't work. I even put in a different GigaNix card from another machine and it still didn't work.
Does anyone have any advice as to what might be the cause of this?
Thanks.
