How do you set up NetInfo for the following:

I use ZoneEdit for DNS services for my domain mydomain.com.

DNS Zone setup is:
www.mydoamin.com 17.0.0.0
*.mydoamin.com 17.0.0.0
mail.mydoamin.com 17.0.0.0 MX

I have sendmail and apache running on a B&W G3 (10.2.4). I've named it "blackbird" in System Preferences\Sharing.

Don't these services need to be configured for there FQDN or host names? I assume this is done through NetInfo instead of editing hostconfig, rc.boot, hosts, and so on...

Sent e-mail shows the sender as "username@blackbird.mydoamin.com" Why isn't "username@mydoamin.com"?

Any suggestions?

TIA, Keith

Yes. Use NetInfo instead of hosts. NetInfo is the local DNS authority.

This is an SMTP server configuration issue. If you're using sendmail, then i believe you're looking for one of the masquerading features. This page has a pretty good write-up on it.
