Oh man, I got a used G4/400, pulled out the drives and dropped in 2 120Gb WD Caviar drives, and 512Mb of RAM. Started off the 10.2 Server CD, fomatted and created a mirrored RAID set with Disk Utility no sweat. Installed the software with no incident and then it can't find the startup drive on reboot, fixed permissions like it said to try. reset nvram and all in openfirmware, tried everything I know, swapped master and slave in order on the chain, anybody think of anything else? There is no SCSI card, the video is an ATI Radeon 7000 that worked fine with the install disk so I assume it will run with OS X server. Any ideas at all, I am behind on this install and am bummin' heavy!
Thanks in advance for any help?

Ooops by reading some other threads I found that OS X server won't boot off software RAIDs only hardware based ones. So much for mirroring the whole kit and caboodle, gonna have to rig a SCSI card up to back up the system, just as well. The mirror was just for a jiffy quick immediate relief backup not catastrophic, will be taping for that anyhow.

Not true.

My xserve is booting using software RAID setup by the disk utility. It works just fine.
