I have various files that got transfered to my MacOS X 10.2.6 Server that are locked. In the past I have had to activate root and login as root to unlock this files because the admin account could not.
However, when i go to enable root, and it asks me to enter in the password of the admin account it tells me the password is wrong.
Now, i can use it to get into the system, log into all the server tools (workgroup, status, settings)....but it will not allow me to enable the root...
Please send me your ideas..
Thanks,
Ric

Try going in Utilities to NetInfo Manager. From there in Security, click on Authenticate, then Enable Root User. I don't know if this will work but its one thing to try.

THat is what I was saying the server would not let me do....
In any case, I was finally able to get it to authenticate me when I trashed the admin keychain.
Thanks,
Ric

Boot to the server install cd, select reset password from the File Menu. In the window that pops up, select the user and type in the new password.
