OK So I set up the firewall using the Server Settings app, and I set it to allow all by default and then specifically deny a particular port. Not the most secure setup but thats how I wanted it. And it worked perfect. Then I downloaded IPNetShareX to route with it since theres no way to share internet with static IPs, you can only run DHCP on it. So I setup IPNetShare X and then I could share internet alright, but now my firewall doesn't work. Even though i can open the server settings app and see my setup, its like it gets ignored or something. I'm trying to set up a simple firewall, router, and hoepfully some port maps. Nothing special but I can't get the program BrickHouse to work at all.

What does ipfw tell you? Go to a terminal and type

sudo ipfw list

My bet is that the app you installed is using the ipfw command line tool to modify the firewall configs which is apparently overriding what you have in the GUI app.

The command line app isn't tough to use. Google for "OS X ipfw tutorial" to get LOTS of info on it.

Do either of you know where the default ipfw config file is stored? I've been looking all over for it and have yet to find it. Sorry for being dopey but I figured it would be readily apparent, however I have not been able to find it.

Also, I agree that whatever 3rd party app installed is loading after the "IP firewall" extension and is causing the problem you are seeing.

I personally am looking for the original config script that OS X uses to configure ipfw so I can do whatever suits my tastes. I'd rather not persue something else when I can config something that already exists.
