I recently embarked on a new web site idea. I bought the name, I set up my virtual host in apache, pointed the name to my IP, and waited 24 hours. This was several days ago. Its about the 5th web site hosted off this one server of mine. Every other virtual host works flawlessly. But this newest one, often gives you a "could not connect to host" error or something similar to that. Often times when you get it it shows it over and over, after you reload. Then eventually, it will load the site. The setup on my end is identical to all my other sites. Is the problem a DNS thing? Or is it not a problem, and I simply have to wait a little longer? I doubt thats the case because once it works, DNS settings are cached so it should continue to work. its a very strange problem. Any ideas?

What's the domain name, and the IP of the server?
Given that info someone could probably answer pretty quickly where the problem lies.

Everything works fine from here...
The page loads right away, no errors at all.

yeah sometimes it does, but sometimes it can't connect, and you have to reload a good 5 times or so, and finally it will go through.

Someone else can try, but everything works fine here.
I'm inclined to say that it's either something on your client side, or something with your server that causes it to not respond.
I've seen problems like what you describe on my server when it gets very overloaded.

My load averages are about .15 all the time, my server is under-loaded. And of all the sites, it only happens to this one, which made me think it might be a DNS thing. Plus the other sites get hits, one lots of hits.

try doing 'ping cutechics.com' from the command line.
Let it send a few pings, then ctrl-c it. Post the output here.

it averages about .55 seconds, with all of my domains, and never misses a ping. Yet I just tried the page again, heres the exact message "Could not open the page “ http://www.cutechics.com/” because Safari could not load any data for this location."
