I have a new router/firewall that I'm testing, and it includes the ability to export it's system log to a syslog server. I have a piece of software up and working on a Windows XP laptop, so I know the thing works, but that's not where I want my firewall logs to go.

How can I get my Xserver to accept the logs from the firewall, and dump them to /var/log/firewall.log ? I need these logs in a place where I can run analysis on them.

Thanks,
CJ

man 8 syslogd

You'll probably have to edit the SystemLog startup item to run it in 'insecure' mode.
