Hey All!
Most of the people in my office have begun using iTunes rather than the CD player to play music. This is fine for CD's, but when people begin importing all of their goodies, it causes a few problems.
The first, and most apparent, is that there are huge taxes on the network. Computers begin to slow down, it makes Macintosh manager upset, clients are disconnected, problems....
The second, is that most of the people in the office are listening to the same music. When they import their music, they save duplicates of the same CD's in each of the user folders.
On our network of 30 OS 9 Client computers, there are two servers that handle majority of the file sharing.
Is there a way that we could offset the network traffic by having a shared music directory on one of the client computers? Can it be set as a share point on the server, and then just default all of the users to this directory? (FileBlaster)
Is there a way to limit the connected users to this folder on the host client ?
Are there any easier ways that we can share the music without hosting the music on one of the servers?
Is there something morally wrong with sharing music? Is this a bad idea?
Can I ask any more questions?
Thanks -
