I've setup a ftp server, the folders (/bin, /incoming, /usr, /pub etc.) are in /Users/ftp which has many restrictions so the anonymous user can mess up my files. How can a make a alias of my files in /Users/alphamatrix/Documents for example so I don't need to move them, I've tried using a standard OS X alias but as expected it just shows up as a document when you login.
Got a Idea?

In a word - symlinks.

Symbolic Links are pointers to other files and act like aliases in some respects (although they're not as smart).

Use the command ln -s to create a symbolic link

The format is:

ln -s <source> <target>

where <source> is the EXISTING file/directory you want to link, and <target> is where you want it to be linked to. In your case it'll be something like:

ln -s /Users/alphamatrix/Documents /Users/ftp/Documents

this will make your documents available at /Users/ftp/Documents.
