Port 21 in use on OS XS

Does anyone know how to check ports in use and close them. Build in FTP services are not running and I need port 21 for CrushFTP server.

<font face = "courier">sudo lsof -i</font>

That will list all ip ports that are being used. It also lists the process that is using it.
