It seems the internal modem on a G4 we have is disabled under OSX Server. The modem is not broken as we booted it into OS9 and were able to make a PPP connection using the internal modem.

Anyone have any clues? Perhaps some .kext extension?

You don't give a whole lot of information but is it possible the modem is disabled in the Network System Preference Pane?
Show: Active Network Ports
Check Internal Modem

Sorry for the lack of info. I'm running OSX Server 10.1.3 on my PowerBook G4. The modem doesn't show up under network preferences pane.
