Hi .. i have one basic problem with my Server. first i do some description about it

- its a G4 450 mhz power PC
- there's OSX server 10.1.3 on the machine
- its 150 kilometers away .. so i use: netopia timbutku, apple remote desktop, server admin app. and the terminal (ssh)

now my problem: when i reboot my server form my home i cant login any more .. (error message: /System/Library/CoreServices/loginwindow.app/loginwindow: (ipc/send) invalid destination port : initCGDisplayState: cannot map display interlocks.

so my server is useless without a sceen.. and for each restart i have to go to my server room (150 kilometers away) and put the screen to restart it

actually i shouldnt use reboot.. but i have to reboot aftere the sys software downloads....

mhmm.... please help! i apreciate!

tnx! greez from switzerland .. a*

Attach an apple/video display adapter to the video card and it will 'think' it has a video source attached. Otherwise, buy the cheapest and oldest monitor you can buy and put it on the server!

The adapters are less than $30US, and you may even have one lying around if you've bought monitors in the past. Often a mac-compatible monitor comes with one.

If your video card already has a VGA port, then you likely were supplied with an Apple adapter for VGA->Apple video style from earlier models. They needed that when they switched to VGA as was popular on your generation of Mac. Since then they went with their ADC (apple display connector) so the items are not included anymore.

Good luck!

tnx... i thought also about that .. but the thing was: these is no space in the server room to put on every server a screen .. and just to cut a screen cable and to see, if it works .. wasnt worth it

well i'll take an adapter from an old screen and i'll try with it.. tnx for help.. i'll go tomorrow to my server and i'll tell you if it worked!! tnx for help!
