So, I've got QTSS up and running. I have no problem watching streamed QT movies behind my router (a Linksys 4-port 10/100), so I know the reason I can't view QT streams using my WAN IP has to be my router.
I've setup port forwarding for both 554 and 7070 (UDP and TCP) to my QTSS machine. When I try to view a streaming QT movie, the resulting QuickTime Player window goes from "Connecting…" to "requested data" to "-5408: Timed Out."
Now, I've gone ahead and played with some settings including forwarding ports 6970 to 32000 (both UDP and TCP) to the QTSS machine, as well as setting up the QTSS machine in the DMZ. However, I still can't see any QT streams when I access my WAN IP.
I hope the problem is only with me trying to access QT streams using the WAN IP, so why don't you guys
try it out and post your results. If anyone knows a solution to the problem, please post that too.
One last note: I'd like to avoid streaming over HTTP.
Edit: Nevermind. As it turns out, I can't view the QT streams because I'm going from behind the router, outside the router and then back behind the router to access the server. I got a friend to try, and he had no problem with the streams.
