Hello ...
I manage a peer-to-peer LAN of about 40 Macs at a small school. We're about to migrate to a new campus, and we intend to switch over to a server-centric system.
Having been brought up on peer-to-peer AppleTalking and the Chooser (now "Connect to Server"), I haven't quite wrapped my mind around how to implement a server-client solution. What equipment do we need (server, check (once the rack-mounted model debuts); school-full of client computers, check; what else?)? Where does software live (does everyone feed off of a central copy of AppleWorks, iMovie, and OttoMatic ... er, um, I mean Reader Rabbit?)? Will we route all Internet traffic through the server? What, where, why, how?
Is the migration going to be a painful process?
Thanks for the help,
DayLateDon
