Greetings, we are looking at getting an Xserve or two to remove a lot of processing from our Suns. The one problem I have with the Xserve is that you cannot get it with the Superdrive (or DVD-writer for that matter).

We need to archive our data in a rather frequent basis from the Xserve and DVD's are a perfect match (the sequential nature of tapes prohibit them for our use).

Does anyone know if you can strip out the CDROM drive and replace with a DVD-writer supported by Apple?

Any suggestions?
Meh

Get a firewire DVD-R and plug it in... or use a workstation with a superdrive.
-DU-...etc...
