I am looking for ways to perform a backup of the Mac OSX Server disks. I do not have a tape drive attached, so I was hoping to either direct dump to back up to a tape drive attached to another unix box, or to dump the UNIX side of things into a file under AFS, and then use retrospect to back up the AFS structure.

However, dump returns with the error
DUMP: bad sblock magic number

Any ideas? Other backup options?

Try storing a disk image on another computer on the network or better network drive, if of course it isn't the same one its already on...
