Does anyone know what the minimum requirments are for MacOS X Server? I can't find it on apple's web site. I want to run it on a 90MHz 601 but it wouldn't even install on a dual 200MHz 604e!?

MacOS X Server officially requires a G3 (G4 for version 1.2) PowerMac with 64 MB of RAM, its stock hard drive, and or one of a very limited number of SCSI cards/drives/RAID arrays.

However, you can install on unsupported hardware, and many havehad success with 75/76/85/86/95/9600 PowerMacs as well as a couple of clones, but you're idea to install on a 601 will likely fail, and I think that MacOS X Server would choke on what to do with a dual 604e motherboard too...what computers are you trying to install on anyway?

if all you're looking for is some web & ftp serving abilities, you might be better off looking to a Mac-OS-based solution (Quid Pro Quo from Social Engineering, http://www.socialeng.com/ i think, is a free web server). For FTP serving, Rumpus (i forget who makes it) seems the most powerful, but it's not free.

I seem to remember a java FTP server being reported around a little bit, and Hotline Communications used to make a basic FTP server. otherwise, of course, you could run Linux PPC and you get ftpd, telnetd, Apache httpd, and a whole host of other stuff in it in a Linux-based environment, best of all, it's FREE! ;-)

Hope that helps, Angus D
