MacOS X & MacOS X Server on iMac DV SE

Is it possible to install OSX or OSX server on my imac dv se? I tried them both, but the install window freezes when i press continue to select a drive. I didn't startup with the osx cdrom system, because my mac only boots 9. (why?) My imac dv se is completely standard accept a three button mouse. HELP

I think that OS X Server and even the lastest seeds of OS X haven't been updated for the iMac SE. OS X Server, i know, is out of date. We have been waiting for a update for some time now.

Mac OS X Server 1.2 is supposed to be released on January 15 form reports I've seen.
