where (or why doesn't) is htdocs in OS X's apache?

not only that, but why is apache not installed an "apache" directory?

i'm having a heck a time reading manuals for MySQL/PHP, etc. that refere to apache installs in "/usr/local/apache" and to putting documents off CD i get with books into htdocs... apparently there is no htdocs?

my books are this year's.

help me out over here, please, to understand.
