I'm doing a test of OS X Server 10.0 for my job and trying to test it on my home LAN. I cannot connect to it at all from my other machine. The other machine is running 9.1, everything current, etc... but simply cannot connect to the OS X Server box. Everything *seems* configured properly, but sometimes I forget the years of mac experience and feel dumb... help anyone?

Yep, it's happening to me to.... I just installed on an older Beige G3 to test.
The server has Appletalk turned on but won't show up in the chooser on the 9.1 machines.
I just typed in the IP and connected OK.
On the OS X machine, a TiBook it adds the IP to the server favorites and is showing the name in the local network, kinda slow showing up though.

nfarwell, m_matsu,
Please provide more details regarding your set-ups (i.e., cabling, configuration, routers, etc.) And, what you have set up in OSXS v10, as well as what you are trying to get it to do.
Please also note how you have set-up user (if any), how you are logged in, how you are attempting to connect. whether you've tried any method outside of the finder, and whether you've changed any of the default settings for the program.
Ciao!

We're having the same trouble here. G4/450 256MB OSXS 2.0/10.0.4 (migrated from ASIP 6.3), laptops (iBooks and PBG3/G4s) having trouble contacting server via wireless (Apple AirPort) network. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont. There seems to be a window where they'll all work, then they wont, so I'm hesitant to blame the individual machines.

I wish i could say for sure that your issue is interrelated with the previous posters, but the assumption I have to make is that they are connected via hardline network. Your issue could be due to the wireless set-up. But just to be sure, could you walk me through an example of what actually occurs when you can't connect?
Ciao!

Just by going to the Chooser, selecting the OSXS machine from the list, entering a user/pass, press Connect, then a dialog pops up immediately saying "Connection unexpectedly broken..."
I've checked and double-checked that the machine is using AirPort for AppleTalk access...besides, if it weren't, the machines wouldnt show up in the list. I can connect to any of our other OS9.x machines on the network without trouble using the same procedure.

Just a note - these portables are set to obtain TCP/IP info via DHCP. Giving the machine a static IP fixes the problem. But we want to continue to use a DHCP system...
