Changing IP-numbers on OSX server

When we change ip-numbers the server hoes down, we use the set-up assistant, anyone familiar with this problem?

What? You don't make sense....

You change IP nos in the Preferences.app -> Network panel (or you can use the setup assistant). You need to let the server go down for a restart after you change the settings...
