Hi,

My computer science lab at uni is looking to switch to a fully Mac OS X lab running off OS X Server 2. The problem is we dont know how to set it all up.

It would need to have the clients retrieve a "User Work" folder at login depending on the user. This is where the students save all their work and it is synced back to the server at logout.

How can this be implemented?

Cheers

The "User Work" folder in OS X Server is called the user's Home directory. It can be set to mount automatically at login, or the user can access it manually. Since the Home directory is kept on the server, there is no syncing necessary.

I recommend you read the Mac OS X Server Admin Guide at the following URL. It explains pretty much everything most people need to know about setting up and using OS X Server.

If you want to know even more about some particulars regarding OS X Server, read the NetInfo guide at the next URL. You won't need to read this guide to do what you want, but it's useful to have if and when you want to expand your servers.
