many IP addresses on a single server?

How can I host many IP addresses on a single OSXS machine?
I am on a lLAN, behind a NAT router.
I would like to create as many IP address as I run website in my company.

You don't need to... you can have your DNS service (either in-house or through your ISP) and just use VirtualHost directive in Apache. You do not need a separate IP address for each website. IOW you can have many different website URLs map to the same IP address... and at that IP address Apache can host what appear to be separate websites. Neat huh?

You can have up to 254 addresses per ethernet interface. Keep in mind if you use utidjian's suggestion that it will work on probably 99.9% of browsers out there, but older browsers will see just the main site that you have configured.

Unless you are planning to use an internal block of IP addresses, you won't be able to.


ARIN no longer asigns IP addresses like they used to in order to conserve until IPv6 arives. 1 IP per physical server... (Many ISP's bought many blocks thus still offer dedicated IP)
I always use protection when fscking my Mac... Do you?

OK, that means I have to dig into command lines in Apache, there is no easy Mac-Friendly way of doing it, right?
