Has anyone managed to set up OS X Server 10 so that it uses a W2K server for usernames and passwords. I don't really want to run 2 sets of passwords again and I know it has LDAP stuff in Directory Services.

I haven't tried, but I've heard its more difficult than it initially seems, and although it should be easy, I don't know if people have had any success with it.

Someone please prove me wrong.

Hello-

My job consists of W2k and NT 4.0 administration (groan), but I don't have a whole lot of experience with the new NetInfo architecture in OS X.. I haven't had enough machines with OS X on them together to play around with it. I thought I remembered reading somewhere that NetInfo could hook into LDAP, which will do the trick for you if you're running Active Directory on 2k, but then again, there might not be such a beast in NetInfo to go out and authenticate by LDAP, and I could be thinking of something completely different...

So the W2k hook is there through the industry-standard LDAP through ADS.. whether or not NetInfo will play with it is another thing..

Be sure to post back here if you have success getting it to work.. would be interesting to find out about.
The Quintessential Featherhead.
