It seems as if existing users of MacOS X Server 1.2 need to pay the full price for MacOS X Server 2.0. That's a real shame considering the tremendous amount of faith and loyalty users have shown Apple Computer.

I'm getting screwed twice!
I own both ASIP 6.3 and OS X Server 1.0. I paid a total of $1500 for these products, and neither one offers an upgrade path to Server 10.0. Apple wants me to shell out an additional $1000 for an upgrade! Everyone affected needs to let Apple know that this is ridiculous!

I've already fired off a couple of emails and hit their discussion forums as well. I'll probably be making a phone call or two sometime today as well.

Don't let them do this to us.

Unfortunately, I don't know. I had to use the OS X feedback form.

I was at an apple OS X seminar a while before OS X Server was released, and they stressed that OS X Server was an entirely new product, and not an upgrade to OS X server 1.2 or ASIP.

The presenter kept making it clear that this is OS X Server version 10.0.X or whatever, and not 2.0. Its an entirely different product.

You can't really upgrade 1.2 or ASIP with this new product. Either way you need to do a reformat and start over.

Do I agree with their logic? Sorta. It's been almost 2 years since 1.2 came out. But yeah it does seem like people are getting screwed slightly.

Well I read on MacNN that the real price was going to be $1499 like 1.2 (not sure about 1.2s price) and the upgrade price would be $999 but they decided to let everyone have it at the upgrade price of $999 so they didn't have the worry of finding out who had already purchased 1.2..
