We have been trying to set up a parent NetInfo domain so we can have other Mac OS X servers use the same users and groups. Apparently you are supposed to be able to use "NetInfo Domain Setup" to assign a server as a NetInfo Parent, and it is supposed to create a parent domain tagged "network." We have tried this and it has not created the "network" domain. We then used "NetInfo Manager" to "Create a new master server on this host," in order to create the default "network" domain. This has worked, and we are able to view both domains in "Server Admin." The problem is that we cannot create a new user in the parent domain (/NetInfo/root). We get a message saying "Program error 5015." Has anyone else experienced this, and know how to fix it? Or is there a better way to create a shared parent domain?

Actually, it's a glitch that Apple is aware of and there is a work-around. i know this because i hit the same wall when trying to setup one of my servers as a NetInfo parent. If I remember correctly I had to enable root, set a new root password, then log in as root and use NetInfo Domain Setup to select "This server is a parent" It worked fine from that point on, although i didn't write the process down, so i may be missing a step.

Ciao!
